Dr. Lisa Heldke is Professor of Philosophy and Director of the Nobel Conference at Gustavus Adolphus College. She is the author, co-author or editor of several works in the philosophy of food, including Exotic Appetites: Ruminations on a Food Adventurer; Philosophers at Table: On Food and Being Human; and Cooking, Eating, Thinking: Transformative Philosophies of Food.  She’s an avid bread baker, winter camper, husky owner, and yurt dweller.

Food, sustainability, pedagogy, and online education are the driving forces of Dr. Cynthia Belliveau’s career. As Dean of University of Vermont Continuing and Distance Education, she oversees hundreds of programs and courses offered in the classroom and online that are designed for high school students, college students, and working professionals. Dr. Belliveau is also a faculty member in UVM’s Department of Nutrition and Food Science and the College of Education and Social Services. Her research is in food systems, primarily focused on cooking and eating as pedagogical methods in various disciplines. She draws daily inspiration from educational reformer, philosopher, and psychologist John Dewey (1859-1952), a Vermont native, UVM alumnus, and early proponent of learning by doing.
